Local food from area producers is popping up at Calgary Co-ops as the stores host one-day farmers’ markets over the next few weeks.
The series of one-day, pop-up events are aimed at highlighting Calgary Co-op’s commitment to local producers. Each of the one-time pop-ups will feature more than a dozen of local producers, as well as some of Calgary’s food trucks. All run between 3 and 7 p.m.
The first one kicks off this Thursday (the 21st) at the Crowfoot location, 35 Crowfoot Way N.W. On Sept. 4, Oakridge Co-op will host one at 2580 Southland Drive S.W. and the Richmond Road Co-op, 4940 Richmond Road S.W., will have one on Sept. 18.
Calgary Co-op CEO Ken Woo says the events will promote local food and give customers a chance to buy products not normally seen in traditional grocery stores.
