Helping the Calgary Zoo rebuild in the wake of the devastating flood in June is as easy as eating gelato.
Fiasco Gelato has come up with two new, limited edition, animal-themed flavours to help the beleaguered zoo, which is rebuilding after sustaining some $50 million in damage from the massive flood while facing millions in lost revenue from ticket sales. Buildings, exhibits and animal enclosures were all damaged when the rising Bow River waters swept across the island.

The Bananimal Cracker Gelato — a banana-cinnamon-honey concoction with animal crackers folded into the mix — and the dairy-free, vegan wild B.C. blueberry High Water Hippo Sorbetto will be available starting Friday at all Calgary Co-op stores, Fiasco’s spot in the Bridgeland Market, its test kitchen and at a number of Calgary restaurants. Fiasco will also be scooping them up this weekend at the Calgary Zoo on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Two dollars from the sale of each mason jar two-pack, as well as the same amount from every scoop, will go directly to the zoo.
